I am a big boy. Big boys feed themselves, don't they? Well, I am just learning, so half of my food doesn't even go into my mouth. Mommy and Daddy are glad that they have dogs. When I throw something on the floor, they don't have to worry about picking it up. Casey and Aspen are funny. They just sit by my high chair gazing up at me, just waiting. (Don't tell, but sometimes I throw them things on purpose.)

The other day I made such a mess that I got put on the floor to be cleaned off by the dogs. It was so funny! I giggled and giggled. I think they liked it as much as I did.

The other day I woke up with a huge hair problem. So I asked Mom if I could borrow her comb. I know what the best baby hair styles are because I look at the other babies at church. All of the babies that actually have hair, do theirs like this. So how do you like it?

Hello everyone! It is almost my 7 month birthday! Can you believe that?! Well... today at Babies 'R Us I found what I really, really, really want! Look at this car! Babes (in both meanings of the word) will be flocking to me!

I would really like to get it. If you love me, please help me get it. It is sooooo cool! The lights actually light up. It is a walker, so I can go all over the place. I will use my car to visit anyone who donates to the cause.

Operation: Baby Sleep Through the Night in Crib

Log - Day 1

8:00 pm - The Diaper is feed and rocked to sleep by Agent Dad. Placed in barred holding facility.

8:30 pm - Agent Mom and Agent Dad return to Headquarters. Take a sigh of relief

10:00 pm - Headquarters sign off for the night.

2:00 am - Noise in the holding facility. Headquarters ignore. The Diaper is playing. Agents notice interesting aroma coming from downstairs. Agent Fur Four Legs left a deposit in the kitchen. Agent D cleans it up. Agent FFL is kicked out of Headquarters for the night. Still noise in the holding facility.

2:45 am- Silence again in the holding facility.

3:30 am - Mad noise in the holding facility. Headquarters discuss options. Decide on giving The Diaper sustenance while Diaper is in the holding facility. Agent M administers sustenance.

3:40 am - The Diaper does not want to go back to sleep. Agent M tries a Super Nanny strategy and sits by the holding facility where The Diaper can see Agent M. The Diaper likes this and stops mad noises. The Diaper starts playing.

4:00 am The Diaper shows no slowing.

4:08 am The Diaper throws a pacifier at Agent M.

4:15 am The Diaper starts negotiating with Agent M for release. Diaper says Diaper is so cute. Diaper says Diaper is so cuddly. Diaper says pretty please. Agent M stays strong and doesn't give in.

4:30 am The Diaper is still negotiating. Agent M is deprived of sleep and starts softening.

4:42 am The Diaper reaches tiny hand through the bar of holding facility and touches Agent M on the cheek and smiles. Agent M quickly calls for backup. No reply from Agent D. Agent M is weakening rapidly.

4:44 am The Diaper babbles "ma ma ma" and reaches out of holding facility again. The Diaper is victorious. Agent M releases The Diaper from the holding facility.

4:45 am The Diaper is taken to Headquarters. Agent D staggers to The Free Zone. The Diaper and Agent M now occupy Headquarters.

4:59 am The Diaper falls asleep.

MRI

Yesterday I had to go to Primary Children's Hospital to have an MRI. I was pretty nervous. I couldn't have a bottle all day! I was so hungry. I tried to be brave, but I started to get a little grumpy.

The nurse had to take my blood pressure. She put this thing on my leg that squeezed it. Boy, it hurt. I didn't like it at all so I wiggled and cried. She ended up not being able to take it. She had to wait until I was asleep.

They put these funny warmers on my hands so they could find the veins. I played with them. Grandma and I pretended we were boxing. I won.

Here I am with Mom. She had to be brave too, but I am afraid she wasn't very brave.

They tried to give me an IV in my hands. I cried and cried! It hurt so much. Dad and another nurse had to hold me down. I didn't like being trapped either. After all of that pain, it didn't even work! They had to go and get a special light so they could see the vein in my foot. Then they put the IV in my foot. I cried so much. Mom said she had never heard me cry so much and so hard. She had to wait in the hall.

Then they put some medicine in my IV and that is all I can remember. But I will tell you what Mommy told me. After I was asleep they put me in this big scary machine. Mommy said I sure looked little.

Mom, Dad, and Grandma got to watch the process for about 5 minutes. During that time I was so wiggly that they had to start over twice. Hmph. I told them it is hard to get me to sleep.

The MRI took about thirty minutes. After I was done I had to sleep off the medicine. Here is a picture of an IV drip and the blood pressure thing on my leg.

The nurse said I should sleep for two hours. Ha ha! They must have run out of primary songs. I only slept for one! (See, I give Mom and Dad a run for their money.... no one can keep me asleep! Even sedated!)

Well, I should have slept more, that medicine made me mad! They fed me just a little glucose water to see if I could keep it down. I did, so I demanded a bottle. About twenty minutes later they sent us home. I slept all of the way home, which helped take off the edge to the medicine. Once I got home I wanted to play. I am kind of funny when I want to play and I am drugged.

Oh, the best part! I can't believe I almost forgot! I am ok! I have liquid around my brain, but Dr. House said that it is normal for some kids. I should outgrow it when I am about 2 years old. My pediatrician will just have to monitor me closely, and I might have to have more MRI's or CAT scans in the future. Basically, the liquid might slow my motor development. Mom will call my pediatrician later today to find out more information, but the neurologist said I am fine.

Well, Dr. Templeman actually called me while I was typing this post. He said the same thing as Dr. House. He said that the fluid and big head are probably genetic through the men on Daddy's side of the family. So I am going to blame Daddy and Grandpa Steve for the suffering I had to go through. (I will be accepting toys in exchange for forgiveness.) Dr. T also said that the fluid shouldn't be causing any headaches. Rats... you know what this means.... Mommy and Daddy are going to start laying down the law.... I won't get away with much anymore. (I will be accepting toys from anyone that feels bad for me. Which should be everyone. Afterall, I am so cute.)

Special Treat

Mimi and Grandpa Steve came to dinner with me before my MRI. We went to IHOP. I chose to go there because the waitresses there think I am cute.

Grandpa Steve and Daddy gave me a blessing. I was very good during the blessing. I held really still and just played with my fingers.

MRI Update

Nathan's MRI is scheduled for 2:00 pm tomorrow. The poor kid can't have formula after 8:00 am. The sedation will take place at 2:00, and the imaging will take place at 3:00. The nurse said we will be there for at least four hours.

The results will be in on Wednesday to Nathan's pediatrician, and we will let everyone know.

Thanks for the special fast and all of your prayers. Hopefully everything is okay, but it is hard not to worry. Afterall, his big head has been a concern since my pregnancy at week 31. That is why I had to do all of those pregnancy stress tests. His head circumference has always been at the 99 percentile at all of his check-ups.

His mommy and daddy are worried about their little bug.

Until The Results Are In

I heard Mommy and Daddy talking the other day about my bad behavior at night. (They didn't know I was paying attention. They thought that I was totally absorbed in playing toys... they were wrong.) Mom and Dad were trying to think of solutions to help me sleep. Well, what they finally decided was to let me get away with acting up until the MRI results are in. They said that they would feel bad if I was having really bad headaches, and they just left me in my crib to suffer alone.

Knowing this information, I put it to the test. I have tried to be as naughty as possible the past couple of days to see what I can get away with. So far, so good. My favorite naughty thing to do is to roll over when they are trying to change my diaper. Ha! Ha! Ha! You should see their frustrated faces when they can't get the diaper on me. They know it is a race against the clock to get me covered before I pee all over the place.

Another fun naughty thing to do is raspberries when they are feeding me. Not only does the food get all over me, but it gets all over them.

Yeah, my new favorite song is:

Self Preservation

Dang it! I slept through the night! I went to bed at 8:00 and woke up at 6:00 am for my routine bottle, and then fell back to sleep. I am so disappointed! I made it my goal to keep Mom and Dad up all week! I was just one day short of that goal.

I talked to Aspen about my disappointment, and she said to not be so hard on myself. She said that natural instinct kicks in for self preservation. Aspen also said that if anyone knows about natural instinct for self preservation, that it is her. So, I guess I won't be too sad about sleeping all night. But it won't happen again!!!

Oh Brother

So I wasn't feeling very good yesterday because of my vaccinations. I was pretty tired and slightly cranky. Luckily Grandma was working at Randee's store so I was able to go and visit her. That made me feel better. I still don't like that she moved so far away.

Anyway, while I was at the store, Mom found this silly hat. And, of course, she had to take a picture. I hope my girlfriend doesn't see it!

My New Car

Mom and Dad bought me a car! I guess they realized how grown up I am and that I needed transportation to get to my grandmas' houses.

It is really fun! It makes all types of noises (I don't think Mom realized how noisy it was when they bought it) and it lights up.

Increase Puppy Wages!

Posted By AspenThis is Aspen and I am writing to demand higher wages for puppies that have to tend babies during the day. It seems that I am always getting stuck watching the kid, and I am hardly get paid anything for it. I have to put up with him pulling my ears and grabbing hold of my fur and not letting go. I am in charge of licking him and cleaning him off when he spits up. I also have to make sure that he doesn't go crawling off. This is a lot of work for a puppy. I deserve more bones!

6th Month Doctor's Appointment

Today I had to go and see Doctor Templeman. We had to wait for awhile, so I played with the fish until then. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to touch them and put them in my mouth.


I now weigh 20 lbs 12 oz. (Mommy says no wonder her back hurts all of the time.) I am 28 inches long, and my head circumference is 18.6 inches.

While I was there I had to have 4 shots. I tried to be brave, but I have to admit that I cried a little. Please don't tell anyone.

Also, some other bad news... My head circumference is too big and I keep spitting up, so Dr. T is having me go to Primary Children's Hospital to have an MRI to check to see if I have liquid in my brain. I am really nervous.

During the test, they will have to put me to sleep. Ha! I wish them luck. Mommy and Daddy can't even do that! They will have to sing me a lot of primary songs to help me get to sleep... but I guess they must know tons of primary songs since the hospital is called Primary Children's.

Daddy says that after my test that I won't be able to drive home from the hospital. Any volunteers to drive me home? Would you mind if we made a quick stop at Babies 'R Us?

Mom says I probably won't be able to have bottles before the test, so I will be really hungry. I don't know how I feel about that. Perhaps I should just eat rice and pears before.

Mommy and Daddy are especially worried. I keep telling them that my head is just big because I am so smart. In fact, I plan on graduating from medical school at age 12 and then make so much money that Mommy and Daddy can retire early and travel the world.

After I got home from the doctor's, Daddy and I took a warm bath to make my legs feel better from where they gave me the shots. I also got a dose of Tylenol.

This Week's Adventure

Since it was Labor Day weekend, and Daddy had Friday and Monday off, I decided we ought to go and see the grandma's. In order to prepare for the trip, I took a nap. This is a picture of how my hair looked afterwards. Pretty cute huh?

On Saturday we went and had a sleep over at Grandma Caylinn's. We stayed until Monday. On Sunday there was a really big storm and the power went out for 4 hours. I thought that I would entertain everyone by telling ghost stories. I told a really good one about a baby that ran out of formula for his bottles. That had everyone screaming. Aunt Brittany (who heard the story via phone) said that it would be really scary if they baby ran out of diapers. Next time I tell the story, I will make the change.

On our way home from Logan we stopped at Mimi's house for dinner. I told her about all my recent adventures and she was all ears.

Then Grandpa Steve and I talked more about our concerns about the rising price of gas and the fall in the economy. Uncle Andy also told us more about his girlfriend. That is why he has a smile on his face in this picture.

Needless to say, after we got home, I was pretty tired.
