Etowah Indian Mounds

Today we decided to go to the Etowah Indian Mounds. They are about 35 minutes from where we live. The Etowah Indians were a very prominent Indian tribe that was in this region of Georgia.
This is the type of dwelling they lived in.
The site has three Indian mounds. On the largest mound, is where the chief of the tribe would have his house. The smaller mounds were used for ceremonial purposes. I think one had a temple on top.
-
The mounds used to be covered by clay. Later in the post you can see a picture of what they may have looked like.
You have to go up a lot of stairs to get to the top of the mound.
From the top you could see everything. I could see why the chief would live up here. He would have been able to see the whole tribe.
On top, you could also see a nuclear power plant.
The mounds are right by the river, which was really pretty.

I am getting good at taking pictures.
Yellow Dog wanted to climb a tree. I had to help him down. He got stuck.
Say "cheese" Yellow Dog. This shows what the village may have looked like.

Matthew and Lisa at Stone Mountain

Matthew and Lisa came to Atlanta for a baseball game. The next day we took them to Stone Mountain. We were going to wait and go when it was cooler, but our passes got them in for free on Fridays. They wanted a picture of their oh discreet wristbands.
I took a picture of Mom and Yellow Dog.
Matthew is always such a good influence. He told me to pick the horses nose.
-
Speaking of good influences, Matthew was teasing me. He would ask how fast can you run. I would run really fast. But then he would say that he could run faster, or a turtle could run faster. So I would try to run faster and faster. About 15 minutes after this incident, I put my hands over my face and said, "Me no can run fast. Me no is fast enough." Matthew felt bad and let me know that he was teasing and that I was a really fast runner. I perked right up and said, "yeah, me is really fast huh?"
We ate our lunch on the train.

We didn't do much at Stone Mountain because it was so warm. When we got back home, I played on Matthew's ipad forever. It was great fun. Then we had dinner.

Stone Mountain

Dad had Pioneer Day off work, so we went to Stone Mountain.
I have been fascinated with climbing trees lately.
Yellow Dog liked riding the train.

Yellow Dog

I love Yellow Dog. He is a nice dog. Yellow Dog goes everywhere with me. Lately, Mom has had to feed him meals too.
I was really excited when I realized my back pack has a strap that I can strap Yellow Dog to.

Who Needs Mom?

I am a big boy now. When I get hungry, I just go and make myself a sandwhich. Even when it isn't lunch time.

Crazy Hat

Mom's day started out like this: Me waking up at six, hurrying into her room, jumping on her bed, waking her up, and asking to make a hat like on Curious George. I was very specific on how it should look. It needed a fish and bubbles coming out of it. (Mom didn't know how to make bubbles come out, so she made a 'bubble' from a balloon.) Also, we put a spinning wheel on it.

Pinata

This is how Mom's day started: I ran into her bedroom at six, climbed on her bed, woke her up, and begged to make a pinata. Mom said I had to wait until everyone was dressed and ready. But finally, we go to make one. Luckily, Mom knows how to make pinatas from doing them with her school class. And luckily, she has all the supplies.
I thought I would die before the pinata dried enough to decorate.
Ta-Da! This finished product! Stuffed with candy and everything.

We tied the pinata to a broom and Dad held it while I WHACKED it. WHACK!
Mom was glad that she decided to only do one layer of newspaper. This was one tough pinata!

I knocked it off the string and continued to beat it on the ground.

Finally! The candy!
